about

Take Me To The River workshops 2023, Saturday 18th March, part of Dorchester Science Festival, in partnership with Dorset Council, Dorset Museum and Bournemouth University.

Families and people of all ages attended this free event, and experienced an array of exciting, hands-on activities where they could explore underwater worlds.

Participants worked with scientists and artists to investigate and learn about freshwater habitats and their biodiversity.

Sound Fishing: led by Adrian Newton (Bournemouth University), David Rogers (electricbackroom STUDIO) and Lynn Davy involved getting the public listening to nature through a variety of microphones and hydrophones.

Under the Microscope: led by Genoveva Esteban (Bournemouth University), involved exploring pond life and studying the single celled organisms under microscopes.

Migration & Tracking: led by Will Beaumont (Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust) and involved participants participants heading out into the river with nets to discover the wildlife within.
